Vlad was born in Brașov, Romania, and moved to Paris at 19. His background was in maths and physics, but he quickly turned to the creative field — teaching himself graphic design and web development while writing award-winning poetry and directing theatre. Storytelling and imagery became the cornerstone of his creative journey.

In Paris, Vlad studied Cinematography at Université Paris 8, then graduated magna cum laude from the Beaux-Arts de Paris in 2011. He initially made a mark in the contemporary art world, his work featured in international fairs and galleries — but it was in cinema that he found his true calling.

He started working as an art director at Carnibird, an advertising film production company, where he worked on a number of visually ambitious commercial films with renowned filmmakers like Bertrand Bonello, Terence Neale, Greg Grey, Katia Lewkowicz, Shekhar Kapur, Samir Mallal, Douglas Avery, Wilfrid Brimo.

This led to an independent career in production design and on-set art direction for cinema and advertising — including work on Maroni II, Black Butterflies, Drone Games, Banger and Yoroï.

Film directing was a natural next step in Vlad’s career. It draws on his extensive experience in visual arts, enabling him to create a perfect synergy of precise composition and emotionally charged storytelling. He has created films for clients like Chanel, Courrèges, and Maison Fragile. His most recent work is BLK Queen WHT Queen — a powerful short film exploring duality, femininity, and memory through a poetic, dreamlike lens.

Today, Vlad is focused on directing and developing original film projects. His strength lies in uniting visual artistry with narrative depth — building atmospheres that are both conceptually rich and viscerally engaging. His background in production design remains central to his filmmaking approach, infusing each frame with meaning and intentionality.

Drawing on his early experience in programming, Vlad is venturing deeper into AI generative engines, crafting images and films where technology becomes a true creative partner. He is developing a slate of original projects — written by him and brought to life entirely through AI — works that blur the line between human vision and machine imagination, and hint at the future of cinematic storytelling.
